Roots vacuum pump of development

Roots vacuum pump evolved from roots blower. Roots blower can compress the gas to 0.1-2kg/cm outlet pressure under normal atmospheric pressure at the suction inlet, which can be used as blast in smelting industry. Roots vacuum pump is similar in structure and principle to roots blower, so the same name is used.

In the middle of the twentieth century, the development of vacuum technology, especially the requirement of vacuum smelting of high-grade alloys in Shanyu, required a new type of vacuum equipment with large pumping speed in the smelting vacuum system when the vacuum degree was 1-10-2 Torr. At that time, the oil seal mechanical vacuum pump suitable for low vacuum work and the oil diffusion pump suitable for high vacuum work were not able to undertake this task well. Because the oil seal mechanical vacuum pump in 1 ~ 10 - 2 Torr, the pumping speed is seriously reduced, the work efficiency is very low, such as reluctant to make it bear a large pumping speed, the need for more than one parallel work, will inevitably cause great waste. As for the high vacuum oil diffusion pump, it can not work under such inlet pressure. Therefore, in this case, we must design a new type of vacuum pump with high pumping speed and high efficiency.
