Piston vacuum pumps are divided into dry and wet ones. Dry pumps can only pump gas, and wet pumps can draw gas and liquid mixture. There is no principle difference in the structure between the two, but the dead space and valve mechanism of the wet pump is larger than the dry pump, so the limit pressure of the wet pump is higher than the dry pump. Piston vacuum pump has two types of horizontal and vertical (domestic W and WL). Vertical pumps are more advanced in structure and performance.
