Roots vacuum pump advantages and disadvantages

With the development of industry, in many applications of vacuum systems, in order to improve the pumping efficiency of vacuum systems, shorten the pumping time, or to maintain a relatively constant vacuum condition in a vacuum system with a large amount of exhaust gas, vacuum pumps are usually required to have a large pumping speed in the pressure range of 1333-1.3 pa, so as to satisfy this requirement. The technology condition has promoted the appearance of Roots vacuum pump and has been widely used in industrial applications.

Roots vacuum pump is a kind of Volumetric Vacuum pump. It uses a pair of 8-shaped rotors to keep a certain gap in the pump housing and rotate in the opposite direction at the same speed to produce suction and exhaust. The two rotors are supported in the rolling bearing of the two side end caps of the pump housing, and the two rotors are made in the high-speed reverse direction by a pair of adjustable synchronous gears.

They always keep certain positions when rotating, thus completing the process of suction and exhaust.

Now let's look at the advantages and disadvantages of Roots vacuum pump.

3. The pump chamber and rotor are dry oil-free, insensitive to dust and water vapor in the pumped gas. Oil vapor contaminates the vacuum system much less than oil booster pump, oil diffusion pump and oil seal mechanical pump.

4. Because of the good dynamic balance, the vibration is small and the noise is low.

5, drive power is small, this is because the mechanical friction loss is small.

6, no exhaust valve.

7, high speed and small volume, can be made into any pump with geometric pumping speed.

8. Condensable steam has no effect on the pump because the pump has not been compressed to the saturated vapor pressure.

9. Compared with other mechanical vacuum pumps, the energy saving effect is remarkable and the fuel consumption is small.
