Pollution and treatment of rotary vane vacuum pump

In the use of rotary vane vacuum pump, particles and steam or liquid constitute a nuisance of pollution.

Due to the inherent self compensation clearance adjustment function of pump mechanism, it is not particularly sensitive to small mechanism damage. In most designs, the sliding bearing chosen is less sensitive to dust than the ball bearing. Once the dust particles are separated from the oil by gravity, sediment will be generated in the oil pool, which will not participate in the oil circulation until it is removed. For these dust particles, they can be filtered by oil filter, but it doesn't seem worth it. If the pollution is serious and the replacement of filter is too complicated, it is not as simple as changing oil. Before the dust particles enter the pump, it is better to stop them in the position that can be handled.

Therefore, dry filter and oil trap are the most effective. The method of protection chosen shall depend on the volume handled, the size of the dust particles and the allowable pressure drop. In the case of abrasive dust particles, the surface hardness of pump parts should be increased to extend the service life.

Exposure to low vapor pressure is not uncommon. These substances condense in the pump, and mix with the lubricating fluid, or dilute the lubricating liquid, or into paint like and colloidal deposits. There is nothing the gas calming method can do about it. The best way is to block the steam before it reaches the pump. But in many cases, it is not appropriate to do so, because the pump works in such a wide pressure range, it is difficult to design an effective trap, or the maintenance of the well is difficult due to certain pollutants. At this time, most of them adopt the method of regular oil change.
