In terms of structure, the cylinder of the compressor is extremely diverse. According to the pressure, gas transmission, type, scheme and use of the tightening machine, cooling method, data for making cylinder, possibility of production and traditional habits of the manufacturer, cylinders can be made in various ways. 


The heating of the cylinder is uneven: the temperature of the pressing out side is higher than that of the suction side. For large diameter cylinder, the sliding support at the pressing out side should be provided with water cooling to avoid skew.

For low and medium pressure below 50 gauge pressure and small-scale cylinder below 80 gauge pressure, cast iron can be used; for pressure below 150 gauge pressure, cast steel is used; for higher pressure, carbon steel is used. For 500 gauge pressure and higher, the cylinder system is forged with alloy steel.

The cast iron cylinder with compact volume, water jacket and channel connecting the valve with the intake and the outlet is a disordered double or three-layer casting.

In order to reduce the loss of aerodynamic force, the passage in the cylinder should be streamlined to reduce the loss of aerodynamic force. Because of the pulsating nature of the air flow in the piston compressor, the loss of this element can reach a large value.
